Mapping Our Heritage Through the Smell of Freshly Baked Pinoy Bread

People participating in URC Flour's SUGOD BAKERY campaign
Through the Sugod Bakery campaign, URC Flour is traveling across the country to help and support local baking. The Local Government Units (LGU) gain a partner in grassroots development, while bakers walk away with new skills in food safety, marketing, and advanced production.

In the Philippines, every province has a story, and that story is about a bread. It starts from a crusty, carabao-shaped Pinagong of Quezon. To the melt-in-your-mouth Pastel of Cagayan de Oro. Our regional bread culture is a delicious map of Filipino identity. It is comforting to smell a neighborhood panaderia. It reminds me of childhood merienda memories and the bakers who fuel our communities.

Sugod Bakery: URC Flour’s New Push to Help Local Bakers Grow

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) Flour is rolling out a new nationwide program. It is called Sugod Bakery that aims in helping bakers across the Philippines. Helping them to sharpen their skills and grow their businesses. Instead of treating it as a one-off promotion, the company is framing it as an ongoing partnership. They are pairing its flour products with a hands-on training. Training in food safety, pricing, and marketing. So smaller neighborhood bakeshops have a real shot at scaling up.
