Our apartment isn't big, but it's the place my son and I call home. Over the years, I learned that making a home feel warm and welcoming doesn't have to be expensive. It doesn't always mean buying expensive furniture or planning a full renovation. Sometimes, even the smallest decorating idea can make a room feel completely different.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I spent more time at home. I often browsed the internet for decorating ideas and beautiful homes. I imagined simple ways to make our little apartment look spacious and brighter.
Years later, I got to work with Photowall, a Swedish company from Stockholm. They kindly sent me one of their premium wall mural samples for review.

Lately, I’ve learned to appreciate little things like morning coffee and a clean kitchen. I also appreciate the sunlight coming through my door and a home that feels warm and welcoming. Those simple moments matter more than ever.
That's why I've started looking at my home from a different perspective. Instead of wishing for big changes, I learned to enjoy small ones. It makes my life a little brighter every day.
One simple change is enough.
Home Doesn't Have to Be Perfect
Sometimes, we put too much pressure on ourselves to have a picture-perfect home. Social media is full of spotless, perfect-styled homes. They're lovely to look at, but real homes are different. Real homes have laundry waiting to be washes, dried under the sun or in the dryer. Then, later fold it one piece at a time.
Real homes have children playing around and squealing with delight. Being with kids means days full of both laughter and tears. The little messes they leave behind are reminders that they live here with us. Real homes bring families, couples, and solo parents like me together.
For me, home isn't about a perfect image. It's about creating a place to stay together. It is where my son and I spent to rest, laugh, pray, and make memories together after a long day.
That's what makes a house feel like home.
Why I Love Simple Home Updates
One thing I've learned is that beautifying your home doesn't have to start from scratch. It can be as simple as adding a pillow, putting flowers on the table, or rearranging furniture. Can anyone relate? Sometimes, you want to add something beautiful to a plain wall.
One small change can transform a room without emptying your wallet.
To be honest, I am not thrifty when it comes to food. But for luxury items, I only look to please my eyes. I've become much more mindful of my spending. Now, I appreciate decorating ideas that are affordable, practical, and easy to do.
My Favorite Discovery: Wall Murals
One decorating idea that caught my attention is wallpaper. Years ago, I thought wallpaper was difficult to install and only meant for large homes. Looking through Photowall's collection completely changed that impression.
Their designs range from nature scenes and florals to modern patterns. The right design transforms any space, from a living room to a small reading nook.

What I like most is that you don't have to redecorate an entire room to make a difference. Sometimes, one wall mural is all you need to refresh a room.
Discovering Photowall
While searching for home decor inspiration, I came across Photowall. I ended up browsing their collection much longer than I expected. They offer beautiful wall murals, canvas prints, and wallpaper. What really caught my eye was their premium wall murals. There are so many styles to choose from. Whether you love nature scenes, modern designs, or something else.
What I like is how their wallpaper murals make decorating feel less intimidating. You don't have to be a DIY expert to give your room a fresh new look. Sometimes we avoid decorating because we assume it will be too difficult. But, Photowall makes it feel much more doable.
My First Impression
Opening the package was exciting. Especially if you know it traveled all the way from Sweden to the Philippines. Inside is a secured wallpaper sample, paste, and clear paper instructions awaited me. At first look immediately showed me that Photowall pays attention to every detail.

I received a wallpaper design called Oiseau. What first caught my attention were the delicate white blossoms. It stretches across the deep olive green background. It has a calm, elegant look that isn't too busy, making it perfect for both modern and classic homes.
Seeing the mural up close also allowed me to appreciate its quality. The print is sharp and the colors are rich. Even the texture feels premium compared to an ordinary wallpaper.
Since I only received a sample panel, I couldn't install it on our wall. Even so, it gave me a clear idea of the craftsmanship. Looking at it in person made me appreciate the design even more than when I first saw it on Photowall's website.
More Designs That Inspired Me
While browsing Photowall's website, I found myself saving several more designs. They have a beautiful collection of wallpaper murals. It ranges from nature scenes and florals to artwork and prints for children's rooms.
For more decorating ideas, take your time browsing their gallery. It's easy to imagine how one beautiful wall can completely change the atmosphere of a room.
