Herbalife Survey: Lifestyle Aspirations for Millenials at Work

Survey reveals that more Filipino millenials are interested in an everyday physical activities outside work. They find it challenging to maintain their healthy and active lifestyle in the modern workplace.

PHILIPPINES,October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey 1, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83 percent or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

Cervical Cancer Awareness - Healthway Medical

Stages of Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer but despite this, it still ranks as one of the leading causes of death among Filipino women today. According to the Department of Health (DOH), while the number of cases of cervical cancer is decreasing in developed countries like the United States, it is on the rise in the Philippines.

Cervical cancer is commonly caused by the Human Papillomavirus. The HPV 16 and 18 viruses are commonly associated with the prevalence of cervical cancer among Filipino women. Risky sexual practices, sexual intercourse at young ages, use of injectable contraceptives and even smoking are identified as the reasons for the development of this disease.

Though cervical cancer can be fatal if not caught in its early stages, it is very treatable and can easily be detected through a Pap Smear test. A Pap Smear Test or Pap Test is a simple procedure that tests the presence of abnormal cells in the cervix, lower part of the uterus which, according to doctors, is actually a very big help in bringing down cervical cancer cases. “It is alarming that despite the availability of this the Pap Smear Test, many women are still not getting it as regularly as they should,” said Carmie De Leon, vice president for sales and marketing of Healthway Medical.

In observance of Women’s Month, Healthway Medical, the country’s most trusted and leading mall-based clinic, is one with the government in enjoining women to combat cervical cancer by making the public aware of the need to undergo Pap Smear Test.

“As our mission of making men and women aware of the importance of making healthy living part of everyday lifestyle, we encourage women to take the Pap Smear Test every year or every 2 years. Healthway Medical offers this test in all our clinics in Metro Manila.”

She adds that women should not be embarrassed to undergo the test insisting that the Pap Smear Test is relatively simple and poses no great discomfort.

Doctors advise that women 22 years old and above should undergo pap smear every year or once every three years, particularly when results are negative for three consecutive years. This ensures that the cancer is detected early while it is still treatable.

In another study done by the ICO Information Center on HPV and Cancer, 30.3M women in the Philippines ages 15 and above are at risk of developing cervical cancer. It is the 2nd most frequent cancer among women in the Philippines and is the 2nd most frequent cancer among women between the ages of 15 and 44 years of age.

De Leon added: “It is also important to get vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus while early even if you are not at-risk.”

InterpretingThe Ultrasound Findings: Cervical Cyst or Polyps Results

cervical-cyst, polyps-result

I had more than two weeks of menstruation and an itch.
For 2 days, I did not see even a tinge of red in my underwear. It was happiness for me, then.

I went to an ob-gyne for check-up. Guess, I had disclose it in my previous post about the cream she gave me for the itch. Now, for my prolonged period problem. She tried to insert her two fingers in my V-part and placed her hand on my tummy and push it down softly. But, I was nervous because I can feel a little bit of pain. My ob-gyne suggest an ultrasound. It was Transvaginal ultrasound.
Transvaginal ultrasound is like a pelvic examination that checks all our female reproductive organs. It is use to check our cervix, uterus and ovaries.

As what my ob suggested, I scheduled myself for the ultrasound last Saturday. I was a bit nervous because the sonographer is a man and at the same time a doctor.  When it was my time to lay in bed, he asked me what was the problem. I told him everything. I remind him that I am bleeding. My ob does not know about it because I was not bleeding at that time, yet. It was next day after the check up. This "next day" was a walk to a small bazaar (in Filipino term, it is "tiangge").

After the insertion, the sonographer told me to ask my ob-gyne for a pap smear. A pap smear can tell if it's a cervical cyst or polyps. Either is the cause of my bleeding.

It wasn't funny! I almost cry but I held unto my feelings.
Tuesday was the ob-gyne schedule in the hospital. Unfortunately, she did not arrive. A nurse told me that she has a problem with her kidney. Furthermore, the nurse suggest to find another ob-gyne.

Tiki-tiki Plus for Baby

I feel intimidated when I hear them talking about the differences between my son's weight to my weight. Sometimes, they will baby talk and told him, "You are so small and your mommy is so big". Is that a comment to crush my soul? Yes, I'm one sensitive woman, though. I understand that it is a bully instead of a good criticism. I took it as a challenge. Yes, it is true that my baby is thin and small for a 5-month old. I look for baby products that are suited for him specifically for nutrition and the good appetite. I did not breastfeed him which I think that's one of the reason.

Anyway, my MIL suggested buying Tiki-Tiki drops for baby. Oh, yes, I almost forgot about Tiki-tiki. MIL is really supportive because she urged me to drop it in his mouth. I was in doubt and worried on how he will accept the taste. Fortunately, he did like it and lick it with his tongue. Then, I gave him water, after.
