Summer Make-Over Tips for Your Bedroom

Your bedroom is the most important room in your life. Your kitchen might be a work of art, your living room may be a spectacular entertainment hub, but your bedroom is where you lay your head and switch off from the outside world.

Modern but Minimal Makeover Bedroom

Whether you’ve had a long hard day or an easy-going weekend, you still need your bedroom to be a haven of peace, where you can unwind and rejuvenate for the next day.

It’s essential to have a well designed and nicely decorated bedroom to make you feel comfortable and happy. If your bedroom is in need of a make-over, these tips will help you to transform your bedroom for the summer.

1. Add a splash of color
Painting is a cheap and easy way of transforming any room. The most challenging aspect (apart from the actual work), is picking a shade. Even if you get it wrong, you can always start over.

If you’re happy with how your room is painted, you can add color through accessories. Swap your lampshades, buy some colorful cushions, or add a cozy rug to the bare floor.

2. Decorate with mirrors
Mirrors have wonderful benefits for bedrooms. Apart from showing off your beautiful self daily, they reflect natural light into the room and make it appear more spacious.

3. Display beautiful art
Art is different to everyone. A painting that you love adds a touch of your personality to the room. It defines the space as your own, and it can provide a mood uplift every day that you see it.

4. Amazing aromas
Engage all of your senses in your bedroom. Spread pleasant aromas by lighting scented candles, or by bringing in fresh flowers. Aromas can strongly stimulate our minds and bodies. Choose a scent that brings about happy memories or evokes positive emotions.

5. Optimize your wardrobe
Clutter is proven to be detrimental to your mental health. Studies have shown that a cluttered household can increase the cortisol levels in your brain, particularly in women.

Taking clutter from various rooms and piling it into wardrobes won’t get rid of the problem. Go through your whole wardrobe and decide what you truly need. Don’t be a hoarder! This may become a monthly task, but it is a great way to make the most of your wardrobe space.

Alternatively, if you really want to optimize, consider getting the built in wardrobes that you’ve always dreamed of.

6. Replace the mattress
Everyone needs their beauty sleep, and you should look forward to yours. The average person spends a third of their lifetime sleeping. Why would you make do with a mediocre mattress?

A new mattress won’t affect the aesthetics of the room, but it will change your perception.

7. Create a relaxation corner
Your bedroom should be a place of zen. Create a relaxation corner dedicated to reading, meditation, music, or whatever you like. You don’t need ample space for this. You’d be surprised at the ambience potential in a tiny bedroom nook.

The keys to a pleasant relaxation corner are, lighting (a blend of natural light and snug lamps), a good chair, your favorite cozy comforts, plants or flowers, and you!
